MARKETING & MEDIA.

“Before you start throwing your marketing budget at trying to attract multicultural markets, make sure you do your homework first. If you’re not sure where to start, get in touch and let’s work out a plan.”

Multicultural Marketing

Marketing successfully across different cultures requires a flexible approach, not a one-size-fits-all strategy.

Each country has its own unique culture that influences their purchasing behaviour, which is why you need to tailor your messages when marketing to consumers from different countries. Cultural differences are complex and aren’t just about ethnic identities; they can encompass values, traditions, class, structure, sex identity and local dialogue. Your marketing message has to accommodate such differences to ensure your product or service appeals to their motivations and is not lost in translation.

Different cultures are also sensitive to marketing styles. Some prefer direct messaging, others prefer soft-sell messages. Some are more receptive to persuasive tactics, while others want supporting information. And then there are those who are receptive to status and are totally persuaded by the “brand snob” factor.

Media channels can also differ depending where in the world you are targeting. Did you know that in some countries, social media is actually illegal or not permitted? There’s a myriad of options available, you just need to know which one to use, and how to use it. Many of the channels are blog or article based, not advert based and are written in the relevant native language. Some of the everyday channels that we work with and that you should be considering are, the Chinese Herald newspaper, SKYKIWI Forum, We Chat, Weibo, Tansuoxinxilan Facebook and the Little Red Book.

MULTI-MEDIA MARKETING PACKAGES.

BTM offer on-going print and digital media packages targeting ex-pat audiences living in New Zealand. Packages can be tailored to your objectives and available budget. We target the relevant social media and traditional media channels for your brand and non-English speaking audience, which can be built around your promotional campaign calendar, product launches, seasonal holidays, events, or on your general day to day customer communication.

Basic Chinese packages start from NZD$1950+GST. More comprehensive and custom options start at NZD$5000+GST which cover mainstream social and print channels.

BESPOKE MARKETING PROJECTS.

Do we do single bespoke marketing projects? Absolutely! We work with many companies on a project-by-project basis, such as a new website or a particular promotional campaign.

No job is too small or too large, if it’s important to you, then we can make it happen.

Here’s a bit of inspiration on how we can help.

  • TRANSLATED WEB CONTENT

Translated web content will help your business or organisation to increase your profile to a non-English speaking audience. We work with your team and web developers to create content in your target languages. We have experience in Silverstripe, Contentful, Kentico, Rocketspark, Squarespace, and other web systems.

  • SOCIAL MEDIA

The social media used by non-English speaking customers will vary depending on their language, location, and other demographics. We create a content plan across various channels to improve your visibility to these audiences. We specialise in Weibo, Little Red Book, and Facebook for the local Chinese market.

  • SALES & MARKETING TOOLS

We can create various language versions of your printed materials. Brochures, flyers, banners, presentations, business cards, etc. We use the full Adobe CC suite, and will help with cultural appropriate fonts, styles, tone of voice, and deliver print-ready files.
